How to locate OST file in your computer?

MS Outlook OST files are offline folders that are locally located in the system. .OST is the file extension for the same. You can create it automatically when you set up MS Outlook or when you first make a folder available offline.

It's very easy to find out the OST file location in your system. Just follow up the given steps.

For Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

  1. Start MS Outlook.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
  3. In the list, select Microsoft Exchange Server, and then click Change.
  4. The "Change E-mail Account" dialog box appears.
  5. Click More Settings. The "Microsoft Exchange" dialog box appears.
  6. Select the Advanced tab. The view of the "Microsoft Exchange" dialog box gets changed.
  7. Click the Offline Folder File Settings button. The "Offline Folder File Settings" dialog box appears:

  8. The dialog box is having OST file location in the File field.
  9. OST file is usually located at » C:\ Documents and Settings\ username\ Local Settings\ Application Data\ Microsoft\ Outlook\ outlook.ost
  10. Just copy the OST file path.

This gives you OST file location.

If you are using MS Office Outlook 2003 and earlier versions of Outlook, then go with the following steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click to select E-mail Accounts.
  2. Click View or change existing e-mail account, and then click Next.
  3. Click Microsoft Exchange Server, and then click Change.
  4. Click More Settings.
  5. On the Advanced tab, click Offline Folder File Settings.

For MS Office Outlook 2010

  1. Click on File Tab in the Ribbon and Select Info tab in the Menu.
  2. Click on Accounts Settings tab, Click on Account Settings again.
  3. In the list, select Microsoft Exchange Server, and then click Change.
  4. Click More Settings.
  5. On the Advanced tab, click Offline Folder File Settings.

All the above steps gives you details of OST file location in respective versions.
